Submission Is Not Slavery: What It Actually Looks Like After Eleven Years
Submission Is Not Slavery: What It Actually Looks Like After Eleven Years
The moment people hear the word submissive, their mind goes straight to the extreme. Cuffs and chains. A woman on the floor doing the dishes all day. Bruises. A sadistic man who beats her up. So when I told everyone they were finally going to meet Master, part of the point was to break that picture, because the reality is so much more boring and so much more human than the fantasy.
I do not have any bruises. Look at my pictures. We do not do that.
"Master and submissive doesn't mean not being human." — Marian
That is the whole thing, really. The word got so tangled up with master and slave, with the actual buying and selling of people, that everyone forgets there is a human being inside it with needs and desires of her own.
The master-slave fantasy does not survive real life
I have talked to a lot of people, on FetLife, on OnlyFans, people who came up to me and told me their whole life stories. And the pattern is always the same. The really hard dynamic, the full-time master and slave thing, either does not last, or it slowly evolves into something more human.
"When they do that or go into that really hard dynamic, it either doesn't last, or it evolves into being more humane at the end." — Marian
You cannot sustain it forever. You are not with a robot. You are not with a dog. You are with a person who has to sleep, take a shower, go to work, eat. It is fine for a few hours, for a scene. As a way to live your whole life, it does not work.
And being the master of a slave is genuinely hard. People forget that part too.
"You need to decide all the time, and deciding all the time is not cool. Sometimes a master should say to the submissive, you decide. I don't want to decide." — Master
That is real. Some nights his brain is not there, and he tells me to decide, and I do. That is not a crack in the structure. That is two humans being humans.
The man who can't actually lead
The clearest way I know to spot a fake dominant is to watch what happens when the woman speaks.
"Every time we meet a couple in a BDSM relationship and the guy supposed to be the dominant, every time the girl spoke, he showed up." — Master
He is not dominant. He can spank her on Saturday, sure, but if she says no, we are not doing that, then they do not do it. He is dominant in bed because he wants to get laid. That is it. That is not a leader.
We have a friend, I will not say his name, who calls himself dominant. His woman is vegan and he is tired of it, but she stays vegan no matter what he wants.
"You cannot be dominant if your woman doesn't do what you want." — Marian
The answer is not to force her. The answer is that he chose wrong. If you like steak, you find a woman who likes steak. You do not find a vegan and then call yourself her master. The compatibility has to be real first. The leading only works on top of two people who actually want the same things.
Who cooks, and other questions that miss the point
People genuinely wanted to know. Who cooks.
"It's not because you're submissive that I cannot cook. And it's not because you're submissive that you should cook all the time." — Master
We cook together. Every night. Cooking is an art form, it is creative, it is fun, and putting all of it on one person is its own little slavery. We make the food like chefs and then criticize it like Michelin critics. We are the worst. The other night we made a royal couscous with almost none of the right ingredients and still made it happen.
I do not cook and slave all day. I am not always behind the vacuum. We both clean a little. We rearrange constantly, because of the kind of work we do, building special spaces. There are things Master delegates to me, yes, partly so I learn to do them, but it is a household two people build, not a woman serving a man his beer while he watches football.
"If a guy came after work, sit down, got his beer and watch football, this is freaking boring. This is sad." — Master
If your partner does not enjoy the same things you do, why even have a partner. You are alone, just with someone in the room.
Who wins the argument
Someone asked, in a master and submissive wife relationship, who wins the argument. Always Master. But that answer needs the rest of the sentence.
"There's no winning arguments. We're trying to go towards our goal, and our goal is the same." — Marian
We do not fight. We do not argue. It is not a marriage from the 1950s where someone wins and someone loses. We compromise with the bank, not with each other. The reason there is nothing to fight over is that we want the exact same things. That is the part most couples are missing.
"Most couples don't have the same goal. And that's the problem." — Master
I have met couples where the woman cannot even tell you what her partner does for a living. He is a steam engineer or something, she thinks. You have been together three years and you have never been to his office. That is not a relationship, that is two strangers sharing a fridge. Master and I are complementary on purpose. I model, he shoots. I podcast, he produces. We are always two, working the same problem from two sides.
Separate the fantasy from the human
There is a place for the rough stuff. We have friends who genuinely like it, who get real pleasure from hurting and being hurt. As long as there is a safe word and consent, I do not see a problem. It is just not for everybody, and it is not true that every dominant is a sadist or every submissive is a masochist.
"Fantasy is something else. Fantasy is Friday night." — Master
That is the line I want people to hold onto. Fantasy is Friday night. It is extreme by design, and you cannot live it forever. The relationship, the real one, runs on something else entirely. It runs on trust, and trust does not happen because a stranger announces I am dominant, you are submissive.
"This is another thing that guys do. They meet a woman, I'm dominant, you're submissive. What? I don't know you." — Master
That is exactly where women run away. If you want to lead a woman, you take your time. You earn it. Be human first. Because the collar I wear came after years of trust, not before it. The cuffs are the easy part. The trust is the whole thing.
